An old drinking buddy of mine who happens to be a die hard Steelers fan guarantee that his black and gold will win this Sunday against the Patriots.  How can I argue with a 300 some odd pound die hard Steelers fan. My thing is, as long as Tom Brady can give the Sarge some good fantasy numbers, I could care less.  It is all about my Redskins baby and Bear meat is tough but edible in December. New England will go down to the Steelers and Tim Tebow will win the Heisman.  There you have it…..

DSC00655 (2)My overall record is 111–65……  I had forgotten about the game tonight and almost forgot to do my picks.  Since I have Direct TV I guess I can watch it (until I fall asleep at least)Dallas still sucks but I I believe they will be the packers.  Lets face it who have the packers really beaten that was worth while.  My Redskins gave them the game earlier this year.  Sean Taylor had a great game against the Packers.  He is missed around these parts of town.

I still picking my Skins to win all the way baby

View Article  A Painful Loss for the Burgundy and Gold

PH2007112701922The few that read my blog faithfully know how passionate of a Redskins fan I am.  It saddens deeply me that one of players for the team I faithfully root for every week was killed in such a senseless manner.  Football is just a sport, but the players that play the game are human, vulnerable to same tragedies that might happen to you and me.  On any given Sunday we are taken away from all that from the trails and tribulations that life may bring.  As a diehard part of the Burgundy and Gold Nation, I feel the lost of a family member even though I personally did not know him Sean.

This loss hurts the Redskins and its fans hurts more than any game ever will.

It is hard when you lose a buddy, a teammate or friend.  I know, I lost some great men I called my brothers in this war we fight.  As soldiers we stand in formation give a final role call, salute and march on. Yet we never forget. It is in our blood not to.

The Redskins (to include the fans) have lost one of their own…. Yes the game must go on, so will our memory of Sean

Hail to the Redskins…………….

TurkeyThe beginning of week 12 starts on Thanksgiving, It is too bad I have to worry about upsetting my stomach, by watching those Cowgirls play.

But that won’t ruin my Thanksgiving, I will be too busy running my mouth about politics (advantage of being the lone Black conservative in the house)

Anyway, Have a Happy Thanksgiving and God bless to all especially my brothers and sisters doing their solemn duty to their country.  Ol Sarge has been there and knows how it feels to be away from your love ones on this day.

It sucks

A big HOOOAH to you all and God bless.

View Article  Old Line Idiots.....Don't Tax Me Bro!

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., left, Gov. Martin O'Malley and House Speaker Michael E. Busch celebrate at a bill-signing.

The new motto for the state of Maryland is “Welcome to Maryland, What is in your Wallet?”

The former failed mayor of the 12th deadliest city of America pictured in the middle celebrating raising tax day.  Who by the way is Governor of Maryland (thanks to the Kool Aid Coalition of Voters) has just gotten his way by getting the Maryland General assembly to pass the largest tax increase in Maryland history.

Flashback to November 2006 when I said (here)

“It is a shame that in this day and age we would rather promote a dead beat mayor of one of America’s worst cities to become Governor.  The people of Maryland spoke and all that matters is higher taxes, anti business climate and a place that will look like New Jersey.”

Oh yeah by the way, I did not mention that we might get slots…  Whoopee, I am voting NO for that crap on next years ballot!

The People’s Republic of Maryland has a spending problem, and just like what irresponsible government allays do, they raise taxes.  Discretionary spending is tight these days yet the state still wants more money from you you to pay poor schools, sub par services and the liberal interest groups that funded the King O'Malley's campaign.

You can’t blame me for it, I voted for Governor Bob!

View Article  We would rather watch it than read it

Beowulf_posterBeowulf was the number one movie in the box office this past weekend.  Although I haven’t yet seen the movie, the book was required reading for for me back when I was in elementary school in the 80s.

The disturbing trend I find now nowadays is that classic literature is not being introduced to kids.  I asked my kids about Beowulf they look at me like “what the heck is that…is it about a dog?”.  Now we have read the Harry Potter series and I have introduced my kids to the Narnia series I loved to read as a kid.  But other than that if Beowulf is not mentioned on Hanna Montoya then they just don’t know about it. It is easier to watch the movie and have the likes of Brad Pitt star in it(The Iliad), then to  to get us to read it and use our imagination.

Which leads me to this AP report (here

“The latest National Endowment for the Arts report draws on a variety of sources, public and private, and essentially reaches one conclusion: Americans are reading less.”

Surely, I take responsibility for my children’s education and the nuances in our daily lives will not be an excuse for me not to encourage more reading in my household.  Schools have their own agenda besides educating kids.  The social aspect of yesterday’s literary classics can not be taught with today’s mind set.  If Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn were lovers then probably the school system would require all the kids to read it.

We still have time to read Beowulf before we go see it.

Week 10 was one of my worst weeks ever, I went 7–7 bringing my overall record to 92 -52.  I am not speaking to my father the cowgirl fan until the maybe Thanksgiving (depending if my Skins get thrashed by those cowgirls).  My dad is still heart broken that I grew up and saw the error of my ways as a child and became a Skins fan.   Up until when the cowgirls legendary coach Tom Laundry was fired,  I was a die hard cowgirls fan just like my dad.  I know more about the cowgirls than most of these fake cowgirl fans that live in the Washington DC area you should see them now wearing all that cowgirl gear, it makes me wanna puke.  Plus the fact that I lived in Texas for five years,  aww heck most of the cowgirl fans in the DC area haven’t even set foot in Texas and can’t even find Dallas on the map.  Enough with the rant and on with the picks

View Article  Karaoke Series - One in a Millon (Flashback Saturday)

The first Friday of each month Ol Sarge does karaoke at his favorite watering hole.  I have a routine set of songs I allays sing.  For the next few weeks I will be spotlighting my karaoke songs by playing the artist video.

One in a Million by Larry Graham arguably is one of the greatest wedding songs of all time.  Aww heck back in the 80’s you couldn’t go to a wedding without hearing this song.

While looking at this video, I laughed my ass of, because Larry Graham looks just like freakin Damon Wayans. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought this was a skit Damon did on the tv show In Living Color.

From now on every time I see Damon Wayans I am going to think about this darn video.
