With a disappointing showing in this past election where black GOP hopefuls were trounce by weak democrat opponents, the GOP is thinking about the future. According to an article I have read on the Forbes web site.
"Florida Sen. Mel Martinez, a prominent Hispanic who previously served in President Bush's Cabinet, will assume the high-profile post of Republican National Committee general chairman, GOP officials said Monday." (Link)
Couple with the pending legislation which will grant amnesty to allot of immigrants. A new voter block will emerge and Mel Martinez is just the point man to court them.
Blacks once again snubbed the GOP. It was clearly evident in Maryland. Surely there were some gains made but it wasn't enough to sway an outcome. Did the GOP try hard enough to go after the Black vote? As much as the Democrats have snub the Black vote, they too have a interest in the Hispanic block.
My prediction is Democrats will continue to snub the Black vote and The GOP will just plainly give up on us. The Democrats has the Clinton and Obama card and they will continue to use it once they feel that we start complaining.
My last question, where are the prominent black leaders in the Democratic party for speaker of the house or Majority Leader? hmmmmm.
