Eric Weider is a publisher at one of my favorite military magazines Armchair General. He wrote an article about the Ardennes Offensive, more popularly known as "The Battle of the Bulge" and what some of the headlines might have been had we had the 24/7 news coverage coupled with the expert analysis we have in this day and age.
The Battle of the Bulge was a suprise counter attack against the Allied advanced in Western Europe. This was cultivated by Hitler's mesmeric belief that he could be the winner of a long drawned-out struggle. The "offense is the best defense" statagey was Hitler's last attempt to regain the initiative and decisively alter the course of the war.
The facts are....
over the course of a six week span the Allies suffered 77,000 casualties
the Germans suufered 120,000
Gen Einsenhower had advanced warning of the possibility for the German offensive
Gen Einsenhower not reinforce the Ardennes forest in preprartion of the German Offensive
Within five months of the Battle of the Bulge World War II was over
Here are some of the Headlines Eric Weider has came up with:

This is what I think Michael Moore's Movie would have been titled WORLD WAR (NEIN) II
Or a Moveon.com headline would have read THERE ARE BUSHES IN THE ARDENNES FORSET or IKE IS HIDING BEHIND A BUSH
Sound off if you have any creative headlines

The other day I was listening to a song by a group called America titled "
At last the "Hunter's Herald" is on the net.
